Uncaught Bounce Notifications

What Causes An Uncaught Bounce Notification?

The short answer is a sender sent mail to LISTNAME-bounces at ... instead of LISTNAME at ...

This probably happens because the poster is using an MUA (maybe MS Outlook) that replies to the Sender: header address.

What are uncaught bounces?

Uncaught bounces are messages sent to the LISTNAME-bounces@... address which are not in the standard DSN format nor one of the many non-standard formats which Mailman recognizes. Most uncaught bounces are often just spam or misdirected posts sent to the LISTNAME-bounces@... address.
